Conclusion
Juilliard is a very accomplished and well-known school of performing arts, one that is very honorable to be a part of. The dance options are amazing, and it would be a great achievement to be a part of this school. It accepts all talented people, and most of the ones who are accepted are offered a scholarship, eighty percent actually. The school is very selfless and is set out to make the future of performing arts better.
Research is difficult, finding the correct website can be a problem, but once you find it, it usually helps a lot, because it has most of the information on it. Also, when searching, you have to be so exact in the words you type, or you'll wind up with unwanted information.
Doing this project has opened a new mind to me, one that tells me I need to fight for what I want, not just breeze by and pray that I am outstanding. It showed me how difficult and how selective the real world is, outside of the small, sheltered school that I am in now.
After finishing this, I can only hope that I am accepted into a school as great as this. Juilliard is almost legendary, in its works, and I hope to one day be part of it.

Information of Each Department
Dance ~ "Juilliard's Dance Division has achieved a reputation throughout the dance world for the superior quality of its education and artistic training. Under the artistic direction of Lawrence Rhodes, Juilliard Dance aims to create true contemporary dancers – trained equally in classical ballet and modern dance.
Guest choreographers and teaching artists support the renowned Juilliard faculty in opening the dancer’s eyes and minds to all the choreographic possibilities that lie ahead. Graduates of the program dance with ballet and modern dance companies across the United States and abroad; they also are among the directors and administrators of respected companies worldwide. Many have gone on to successful careers as choreographers.
The Dance Division offers four-year undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) with liberal arts requirements, or a Diploma without liberal arts requirements. Most students in the Dance Division pursue the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree. In addition to dance and dance-related studies, the four-year degree program includes 24 credits in the Liberal Arts department."

Drama ~ "Theater is a calling, an art, a craft, a political act, a profession, and a business. The Juilliard Drama Division is dedicated to providing the 21st-century theater artist with the necessary tools, artistic and personal, to meet the demands of all aspects of our work in an ever evolving performing arts landscape.
Our curriculum emphasizes intuition and spontaneity as well as discipline, technique, intellectual development, and social context. Our approach combines vocal and physical training, extensive work on the written word, and appreciation of style with a fierce commitment to emotional honesty, immense physical energy, and imaginative daring. We believe that this rigorous experience, along with our pledge to preparing young theater artists to take a place of responsibility in the community at large, have enabled 40 years of alumni to excel as artists, leaders and global citizens.
Under the direction of Marsha Norman and Christopher Durang, the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program is woven together with our acting programs through Play Labs, staged readings, and workshop productions, providing an essential experience for our promising theatre artists. Through these dynamic opportunities actors and writers collide together in their respective roles in the creation of vibrant new work. The Drama Division has served as an incubator for this work and many of these collaborations continue to flourish for years long after graduation.
Since its inception the Drama Division at the Juilliard School has dedicated itself to excellence and has grown to be one of the most respected and renowned programs for actors and playwrights in the world."

Liberal Arts ~ "Juilliard actively promotes a liberal arts education that provides the humanistic, ethical, social, critical, and aesthetic background essential to personal development and professional excellence. Studies in literature, philosophy, history, social sciences, arts, and languages, foster in students a deeper understanding of themselves and the complex world in which they live.
All students in the B.F.A. and B.M. degree programs are required to complete a minimum of 24 credits in the Liberal Arts. Qualified students begin a two-year core-curriculum program in their first year by taking "Ethics, Conscience and the Good Life" and "Society, Politics and Culture." In the following year students enroll in "Genres and Generations" and "Art and Aesthetics." This core curriculum in the humanities introduces students to a cross-cultural range of texts, traditions, and issues.
Students pursue electives in such fields as art history, creative writing, literature, African-American studies, American and European history, gender, philosophy, and the environment. Juilliard also offers courses in four modern foreign languages: French, German, Italian, and Russian. Most students take electives in the third and fourth years but may take them earlier. All Liberal Arts courses are conducted in small seminars to foster participation and a spirit of inquiry. Eligible students may also cross-register for certain courses at Columbia and Barnard Colleges.
Through their work in the Liberal Arts, students refine skills in reading and critical thinking, learning to communicate with greater clarity and effectiveness. This program equips them to become active, well-informed citizens; develops their awareness of the social and humanistic dimensions of professional work; and lays the basis for a fulfilling cultural and intellectual life."

Audition Process
Juilliard does not do pre-screening, only a live audition is required.
However, for those who live international, they accept DVDs of the dancer performing both ballet and modern. For them, it is optional whether they want to schedule an audition or not.
Otherwise, the audition process should proceed like this.
There are five auditions, each of which the dancer must be called back to attend. The first one is open to all, then you are called back for the next, and so on. Nothing is based on the city where you audition, and no one else is allowed to observe the audition.
The first one is the ballet technique class. For girls, the attire is pink shoes, pink tights, and a black leotard. Boys wear a white t-shirt, black tights, white socks, and ballet shoes. The pointe shoes are not required for this audition. During the audition, dancers may be requested to leave instead of after. Those who show talent and promise, might be called back for the modern dance audition.
Second, the modern dance audition. The attire is anything, but specifically barefoot. The dancers will partake in stretches in the center, then across the floor traveling phrases.
Third is the solo performance. It can be the dancer's own choreography, or a piece from a repertoire, but they must provide their own music, preferably a CD.
The next callback is coaching. Juilliard is interested in knowing how fast the dance can pick up choreography, as it is a vital skill for performances.
Finally, those who passed through each callback are called again for an interview. They want to know what the interests and goals are for those applying. Only the ones who present agreeable ideas are invited to join Juilliard.
