Admission Requirements

Eligibilty ~

1. You have to have had at least three years of dance vocabulary, and must have had prior dance training.
2. You have to be at least sixteen years of age, and must have a diploma, or must be under the Early Admissions Program.
3. You must audition live, and are only allowed to twice.

Applications ~

1. Late applications not accepted.
2. Essay is required.
3. The audition isn't scheduled until the fee, application, and essay are all received by the school.

Essay Topics~

1. Transfer Applicants
2. Current or formerly enrolled Juilliard students.
3. All other Bachelor of Fine Arts and Diploma applicants.

First-Time College Students ~

1. Must be high school graduates, or must possess diploma equivalent to graduation.
2. If home schooled, must include ALL information about it.
3. If you want you apply early, you must be at least sixteen years of age.
4. Must have two letters of recommendation, one from a high school teacher and one from a dance teacher.

The criteria for acceptance is this:

"~A serious commitment to dance training and a career in dance performance.
~A high level and quality of training. We do not accept students who are untrained. Applicants should have a minimum of three years experience with ballet and modern dance vocabulary.
~Potential for meeting the technical standards of Juilliard’s professional training program. 
~Talent and potential as a performer, including a vivid imagination, courage, and emotional accessibility.
~An articulate body promising significant development in dance.
~A willingness to re-evaluate technique and explore new approaches to training.
~Demonstrated musicality.
~The ability to work as a part of an ensemble including: the strength and sensitivity necessary to partner/be partnered, the ability to work openly and honestly with other dancers, the ability to be flexible in the artistic process with choreographers, directors, or rehearsal assistants."
